Q. My site on my local drive is only 35 MB big, why is my disk space usage higher?

A. The disk space usage include mail in mailboxes, scripts, permission files, database files, log files, statistic files . . . all the other files needed to run your site on the server. You can utilize the Disk Usage feature in the control panel to see exactly where all the files are and how much space they are consuming.

This does not show files that are not stored outside of your home directory such as MySQL databases or Mailman mailing lists or their archives. The mailing list archives which includes any attachments sent, can be a huge source for disk space usage and we suggest disabling that feature.
